Bluffworld 101
There are many sites out there these days that give poker strategy, advice, hand rankings, and many other topics that can be useful. At Bluffworld.com, we focus on providing a hands-on plan to people who want to play in the major events starting with a limited bankroll. While we provide strategy articles and advice, there are many spots, and many books in particular that you should read if you are first getting started at poker. Some of our favorites which will apply to the plan that we lay out are Theory of Poker by David Sklansky, Harrington on Hold'em Volume I, II, and III.
This doesn't mean that you can't start playing until you have read all of the books. There is no substitute for some solid playing time on the tables so I would start reading some of those recommended books right away, but also start playing some of the smaller buyin tournaments to apply the knowledge you get from the books. One caveat though: I would avoid the play money tables for getting real experience. While they are fine for getting used to the software controls of a certain site, you really won't learn any useful skills from playing on them. Since we are dedicated to making sure you don't waste the time you have to play, I wanted to get that out there. |
