Since I was playing on Day 1C, we took the first day to check out the Taronga Zoo and the sights around Sydney. We used a service called Matilda tours that runs a ferry all around Darling Harbor and stops at several of the tourist spots around Sydney. We got a view of Star City Hotel and Casino (where we were staying and playing) as we started our tour.

We then cruised around the harbor and got a nice shot of the Harbor Bridge and the Sydney Opera House.

You can actually climb up to the top of the bridge, but I couldn’t talk my wife into it.

Our first stop was the Taronga Zoo to check out some of the local wildlife. We saw Kangaroos and Wallabys:

A Koala up close with baby:

Meerkats:

And the famous Tasmanian Devil!:

From here we headed back on the ferry and stopped off at the Sydney Opera House. This is another of those spots where you can’t take a bad picture.

Our last stop was an area called “The Rocks” which is the site of the old penal colony which has been converted into a neat area of pubs, bars and shops that feature rock walls along the interior and exterior.

We stopped here and had a beer at Lowenbrau and then headed back to the hotel for an early night to get ready for the tournament the next morning.
