Poker? Yeah I have been playing some poker.

Well, I have been playing some poker lately, but really haven’t been blogging about it too much.  I decided with the new year and all that it is better to just throw up something whenver I play regardless of how short it is to keep people updated.

Maybe a month or 2 ago I decided I wanted to play in a couple of the Sunday Millions  (now 1.5M) on PokerStars.  I deposited $215 to play in one, and actually did pretty well, cashing in my first one for about $1200 or so.  The next week I did a repeat performance and went a bit deeper, making $1450 or so.  This gave me $2200 or so in cash so I then decided to play some of the EPT W$109 qualifiers that have been so soft in years past.  I ended up winning 2 of these as well so had my account up to around $4000 in combined W$ and cash.  I then played in one of the $650 PCA qualifiers that I ran KK into AA 2x in with no luck.  I then cashed out $1000 for christmas presents and this past weekend played in the 30 seat guaranteed PCA qualifier.  I was doing resonably well until I got down to around 9 big blinds and pushed with J9o in late position and was called by a short stack who woke up with AA.  This left me with 3 big blinds and I pushed the next hand and was called by J9s of all hands which won the race vs my 89o.  I feel very happy with my play.  Maybe I should have waited a few more hands for something better but with the ante’s I don’t hate the play.  I still have the bulk of my poker BR on Carbon Poker, but haven’t been playing all that much.  I plan to change that in the new year though and blog about it too!

Well, I noticed I hadn’t updated my blog since the APPT trip so I figured it was overdue. I have been playing a bunch of poker over the last 2 months, in particular qualifiers on PokerStars into the EPT Monte Carlo. The $109s they have every day are pretty soft and I am amazed at some of the silly plays I see folks make around the satellite bubble. By recycling the W$ that I win, I have been able to win 5 entries into the $1050 Monte Carlo satellite with about $1600 in entry fees. I came really close in one of the satellites but made a horrible call with 20 players left and 11 seats given that knocked me out. I will be playing in my 5th $1050 tourney tomorrow so hopefully I will be able to make something happen.

I have also been playing a decent amount of cash on Carbon Poker, mainly 1-2 and 2-4. During January, I only played about 6K hands and more or less broke even. I rebounded in February with almost 12K hands and had a decent profit of about $5K or so. I am really trying to push out some hands in March and have already booked 4K hands in the 1st 6 days. I know this isn’t a lot by 2+2 standards, but I usually only play a maximum of 4 tables since I still feel like I am developing my game and would rather focus on making the right play or experimenting with lines instead of just going on autopilot like I used to with SNGs.

I will try to update my blog more often and include some interesting hands when I can.
