WSOP Here I come! Well, the plane ticket at least :)

Since I have slacked off and not won a seat yet, I went ahead and booked a trip out over the WSOP ME so I can try to satellite in if I don’t make it this weekend. I am going to be out there from July 4th – July 11th if any of you want to meet up while you are out there. I had a free ticket on American so I only had to buy one for my wife ($278) and then I had some free hotel offers. I will be staying at the Rio on the 4th and 5th, don’t have a hotel currently for the 6th (may have to stay up all night woo hoo), and then am staying at Bellagio for the 7th, 8th and 9th. The night of the 10th I probably won’t need a room for since our flight leaves at 6:30 the next morning. I pretty much stay wherever I get free rooms and have a moral aversion to paying for a room in vegas :) A buddy of mine may also be coming out to meet us so he might be able to get us a room at Venetian on the 6th then we would be in good shape.

This weekend, I am planning on playing in the Pokerstars 150 seat guaranteed and maybe the Full Tilt 100 seat guaranteed. That is how I got in last year and I am hoping to make it again this year. Hope to see some of you there!

Back in the saddle….again….

Well, for the first time in a few months I actually fired up my software and played poker today. Part of the reason for the break was life getting in the way, but after the PCA in Atlantis maybe I was frustrated with my play too. In any case, frustrated or not, the WSOP is coming up rapidly and I need to win a seat again this year. I am really starting late in the game, but hopefully I will still be able to pull a rabbit out of the hat again this year. I missed the Bodog $270 signup today because they were having problems with their Click2Pay account so I couldn’t deposit (Grrrrrr). After the WSOP last year, Bodog had such a phat setup that I promised myself I would try to qualify through them this year if I could. In any case, I will try to play in it tomorrow assuming that they have their cashier running right again.

So where I ended up playing was on Pokerstars. Since I haven’t been playing, I didn’t have much in my account so ended up playing a $80 SNG which gave away a seat into the $650 Main Event Satellite. I ended up getting heads up at the table outchipped 3 to 1, and then made a dumb move by pushing preflop with QTo after a raise by the big stack. I realize in retrospect that he wasn’t going to fold any hand with the price I was giving him (the chip stacks were like 9K and 3.5K and he raised it to 1200. The better move would have been to do a stop N Go and push on the flop regardless of what came. Instead I ended up dominated against AT and didn’t improve. 2nd gave me my $80 back but it is really frustrating to make a mistake like that. Ah well. At that point it was too late to play in another qualifier, so the ME qualifier isn’t for me today.
